The largest regional FinTech conference - Money Motion - was held in Zagreb last week. With two days of a rich program in which more than 90 speakers participated on three stages and a competition of startups from 12 countries, Money Motion provided a phenomenal program that was followed by 2000 participants.

On the main stage of the second day of the MoMo conference program, a panel discussion on the topic "The role of Universities in FinTech development" was held, and the panelists were university professors who, through their presentation, gave their views on the role of higher education institutions in providing support for the development of FinTech startups. The participants of the MoMo conference, among whom the dominant population was students, learned what challenges higher education institutions face in the sphere of promoting the development of the FinTech industry, how study program curricula are adapted to the needs of the FinTech sector, how universities can effectively cooperate with the business community, how would improve FinTech innovations, and at the very end, a review was given of some of the most successful university initiatives that had a great impact on the development of the FinTech sector.

The moderator of the panel was our vice dean for international cooperation, Assoc. Dr. Tamara Backović, who during her presentation gave an overview of the development of the startup ecosystem in Montenegro, the development of the FinTech sector, as well as the projects that the Faculty of Economics is working on, which have a direct impact on the development of the entrepreneurial activities of our students.

In addition to vice-dean Backović, Prof. Ph.D. Vinko Mustra - Dean of the Faculty of Economics, Business and Tourism - University of Split, prof. Ph.D. Sanja Sever Mališ - dean of Faculty of Economics & Business Zagreb and prof. Ph.D. Mislav Balković - rector of Algebra University.
