Business Intelligence Day: Discussion on challenges and potentials of artificial intelligence

The second consecutive Business Intelligence Day was held at the Faculty of Economics, dedicated to the current topic: "AI - technology that shapes the future?". 

The event brought together representatives of the academic community, business, startup sector and financial institutions, as well as students, and the focus was on the exchange of knowledge and experience on the development and implementation of artificial intelligence (AI) in various fields.

The opening address was given by the vice-dean for international cooperation, Assoc. Dr. Tamara Backović, followed by an inspiring keynote lecture by Dr. Chahna Gonsalves from King's College London (King's Business School), who spoke about how generative artificial intelligence is transforming education, especially in the areas of assessment, critical thinking development, and academic ethics. Through specific messages addressed to students, academic staff and representatives of the economy, she opened an important dialogue about the need for continuous adaptation of the educational system to the technology that develops at an extraordinary speed. She pointed out that for a true modernization of the curriculum, a constant conversation between academia and practice is necessary.

“I was really impressed by the diversity of speakers - from industry leaders to innovators from the Science and Technology Park of Montenegro - who presented their initiatives in integration of artificial intelligence in Montenegrin business and education. Their openness in sharing ongoing projects and insights further emphasized how collaborative it is key to staying informed and aligned in all aspects of AI technology development," Dr. Gonsalves pointed out.

The central part of the program included a series of presentations by domestic experts from organizations and companies that actively develop and apply AI solutions. They talked about the development of the local AI community, the creation of a startup ecosystem, the application of AI in data analysis and business decision-making, the use of artificial intelligence in medicine, as well as the automation of processes in the financial sector. 

In the discussion, moderated by Dr. Sunčica Vuković, many questions were raised about the potential, but also the challenges brought by the introduction of AI in different sectors - from ethical and regulatory dilemmas, to the lack of data, capacity and the need for better cross-sector connections.

Milutin Pavićević from the Montenegrin Association for AI spoke on the topic community creation and opportunities for cooperation with the economy and academics

sector.

Mrs. Valentina Radulović, executive director of the Science and Technology ParkMontenegro presented perspectives for building a start-up ecosystem in Montenegro, especially focusing on the role of the Science and Technology Park.

Filip Kecina from the Logate Institute spoke about the Logate ecosystem and innovations and to the activities that the company carries out to shape the future of analysisdata

 Ivan Bošković, executive director of ITAS, presented examples of the application of AI in healthcare and told the audience that artificial intelligence is already changing medicine,  especially through the example of an innovative project implemented by ITAS in Montenegro.

Dr. Đuro Stojanović, executive director of Uhura Solutions, presented an innovative digital product based on artificial intelligence and demonstrated to us possibilities of this technology in the domain of process automation in the finance sector.

In the second part of the program, two parallel workshops were held. Student workshop she was dedicated to the creative use of generative AI in marketing, while she is an expert the workshop, led by Andrija Đurović, MSc (Deloitte, Central Europe), was focused on credit risk modeling in the context of macroeconomic scenarios and IFRS 9 standards.

Business Intelligence Day once again confirmed the importance of dialogue between science,business and policy makers in the development of responsible and sustainable AI solutions. It's an event closed with the message that knowledge, openness to change and cross-sector cooperation the key to the successful application of AI technologies in Montenegro.
